Five family members die in Noida; accusations of oppression lead to arrests

New Delhi (Press Bureau). In a shocking incident in Greater Noida, the Rabupura Police Station received a report yesterday morning about the suspicious deaths of five members of a single family in Gumla Shri Padam village. The deceased were Mahesh (37), his father Krishna, his wife Mahesh, their son Laddoo (11), and their daughter Misti (7), all found dead in their home.

According to the Police Commissioner’s media officer, Subodh Kumar, the senior officer, ambulance, and Food & Safety Department teams promptly arrived at the scene. A forensic unit examined the site and collected scientific evidence. During the investigation, investigators discovered that the deceased had transferred a voice recording from one phone to another. In the recording, he alleged that his sister Suneeta and her husband Shekhar had trapped his mother in their ancestral house in Rabupura and transferred ownership to themselves, while his other sister Sapna had occupied a flat in Delhi and was living separately from her husband. He claimed that the oppression by his sisters and brother‑in‑law forced him to commit suicide with his family.

The victim’s brother‑in‑law, Akash, son of Gopi Chand, filed a complaint on Saturday night at Rabupura Police Station against Shekhar, Suneeta, and Sapna. He stated that the deceased had repeatedly expressed that they were publicly humiliating him and his sisters, and that this abuse drove him to take his own life by ingesting a poisonous substance.

Under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code, the police registered the complaint and arrested the three accused earlier today. They have been presented to the court.

Further probing revealed that the deceased’s mother, Chandravati, was ill, and that her sisters and brother‑in‑law had transferred the family house in Rabupura to their names. Mahesh’s sister‑in‑law, Neeraj, also approached the Rabupura Police Station with suspicions that the land dispute had led to the killing of her in-laws’ children. She claimed that her husband’s earlier death had left her separated from her in-laws, who allegedly abused her. She added that Mahesh’s father had bought about 10 beegas of land in Nagla Padam Singh around 2005 and received roughly 1.25 crore rupees as compensation from the Yamuna Authority in 2009, which was reportedly given to his daughters, with the land development portion also intended for them. The sons, however, received no share.
