New Delhi, 18 October (प्रेस ब्यूरो)। नई दिल्ली, 18 October (हिंदी). The opening ceremony of the 5th Asian Para Games held in Nagoya, Japan, showcased India’s rich cultural tapestry through a distinctive blazer worn by the Indian contingent. The blazer featured intricate Indus Valley Civilization seals, motifs of SaptaSindhu, and a subtle representation of the Indian tricolor close to the heart, symbolizing the nation’s pride and heritage.
The design aimed to bring a 5000‑year‑old civilization to life on the global stage, bridging ancient artistry with modern athleticism. The blazer’s collar bore the emblem of the SaptaSindhu, signifying the sacred rivers that flow through the subcontinent, while the pocket showcased the tricolor, reminding athletes of their duty to the country.

India’s delegation, a 281‑member team, entered the Games with 168 players – comprising 112 men and 56 women – ready to compete in 11 sports. These athletes will vie for medals across disciplines such as athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and more. The Games, running from 18 to 24 October, bring together athletes from around 45 countries, with a total of roughly 3000 players participating. The event’s motto, “Imagine One Heart,” underscores unity and shared aspirations.
The Indian blazer is more than a ceremonial garment; it is a visual narrative that traces the country’s ancient roots to the present, embodying perseverance, cultural continuity, and sporting excellence. As the Indian para athletes took to the Nagoya arena, they carried with them not only the hopes of a nation but also a living testament to a civilization that has stood the test of millennia.
